PeTARY
Gifts & Books Donation Policy
Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Rahman Ya’kub (PeTARY) welcomes gifts of books and other materials that support the teaching, learning, and research mission of the institution. Because of limited space, staff time, and the need to maintain a relevant and high-quality collection, all donations are evaluated according to the same standards applied to purchased materials.
What We Accept
• Books and materials that directly support the curriculum and research needs of the institution.
• Works authored by faculty, alumni, or affiliated scholars.
• Materials of unique value (e.g., rare, local history, archival interest).
What We Cannot Accept
• Materials in poor condition (moldy, damaged, heavily worn).
• Outdated textbooks or editions, especially in rapidly changing fields.
• Popular magazines.
• Duplicate copies of items already in the collection (unless there is demonstrated need).
Terms of Acceptance
• Donations become the property of PeTARY
• PeTARY reserves the right to determine the use and disposition of all gifts, including the option to add them to the collection, donate them elsewhere, sell them, or recycle them.
• A list of titles for consideration may be requested prior to donation.
• PeTARY does not provide appraisals or valuations for tax purposes.
Acknowledgement
• Donors may request a letter of acknowledgement for accepted gifts, though this will not include a list of individual items or monetary value.
