INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICE (ILL SERVICE)

USER EDUCATION

The library has an array of information resources such as Online Databases, Journals, eBooks and also Research tools. Our team of Reference Librarian can assist users in locating and using information and the tools quickly and effectively. Consultation with our Reference librarian is available during office hours as stated below: Monday - Thursday: 10.00 am - 12.00 noon 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm Friday. Closed in Public Holidays. Class/ workshops are available for larger crowds and can also be requested. As a guide, classes are usually designed following these modules:

1. Introduction to the libraries
This module is designed for the new students and staff. It provides information on library facilities, services, opening hours and the rules and regulations as well as creating awareness of services and facilities. Duration of training: 1 hour

2. LibrARY One Search
This module is designed to help users understands the LibrARY OneSearch as a tool for searching the collection. Users will be taught on how to perform simple as well as advance search. This module is offered to new students and academic staff. Duration of training: 1 hour

3. Finding Information for Academic Writing
This module provides the basic steps in conducting research. Users will be guided on identifying information searches using electronic resources effectively.This module is offered to undergraduates and postgraduate,research assistant as well as academic staff. Duration of training: 1 ½ -2 hours

4. Finding Information on the Web
This module helps guide students in identifying websites that can be used for academic writing. They will also be taught on how to evaluate information contained within websites using the five evaluation criteria. This module is offered to undergraduates. Duration of training: 1 ½ -2 hours

5. Citing References & Plagiarism
This module guide students on how to cite references in their academic writing and understand the concept of acknowledging other people’s ideas/findings.This module is offered to undergraduate, postgraduate and academic staff.Briefing on plagiarism meant to helps students to understand what is perceived as plagiarism and how to avoid plagiarism. Duration of training: 1 ½ - 2 hours

INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICE (ILL SERVICE)

Interlibrary Loan (ILL Service) is a service that allows users to request books from other libraries. This service requires users to return the items to PeTARY within the due date stipulated by the lending library. Document Delivery Service is when a user request for articles, book chapter, and conference papers. These items do not require users to return them to PeTARY.
