During MCO Period
No fines will be imposed during MCO.
We will extend all due dates until students are allowed back in campus.
PeTARY has reopened since 10 June 2020. The opening hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30pm. All users MUST adhere to the SOP preventing the spread of Covid-19
We will not impose any fines during MCO but if you wish to return you books, please check whether you fall under the categories of students allowed to enter campus. Users are only allowed to return books using the Book drop boxes. These boxes are available at all branches as well as the Main Library.
No fines will be impose after 30 June 2020 or for as long as students cannot return to campus.
You don't need to return your books anytime soon. All due date are extended until students can return to campus. Until then, we will continue to waive fines and extend loans.

Yes, but usage is in the library for 2 hours. Renewals are also required if you wish to use the item for more than 2 hours.

From PeTARY website (www.library.unimas.my), Click the icon E-Resources. There you can choose from e-Books, e-Journals, Online Databases, Resources on trial and Free Resources
From PeTARY website (www.library.unimas.my), Click the icon E-Resources and then choose Online Databases. You will be promted for your Single ID and password. You will then be directed to the list of databases available and scroll the alphabetically arranged resources to find CEIC.
You are not allowed to borrow physical books from public university library.

On Item record, click on "Request" tab. You will be prompted to key in Name, barcode and 6 digit pin number. You will be notified via email once the item is available for pick up. Please note that this feature is only available for items on loan.
Online databases contains collections of information that are indexed for easy retrieval. Some databases are subject specific while others contain a wide variety of information. They can provide full text of journal articles/magazine/newspapers/books or just the citations and abstracts.Users will need their barcode (number behind student/staff card and 6 digit pin number (generated by CAIS) in order to access the databases remotely. .
You can go to PeTARY website and click on the "My Account" tab. All PeTARY patrons will have their own PIN no which is acquired during the first activation of their library account. Patrons can go to the circulation counter, level G for card activation. Once you have logged in to your account, you will see the "The Checked out Item” tab and by clicking on that, the system will show you the list of items you have borrowed. You can choose to renew all or selected items only. If your books are overdue, the amount of fines will be stated.
PeTARY membership is divided into two categories, Internal and External Membership. Internal Membership All staff and students of UNIMAS are eligible to apply for membership. Students are required to activate their membership by making their first loan. Staff can have their membership activated at the Circulation Counter, Level G, PeTARY Building. External Membership To apply for membership, users can register at the Circulation Office, Level G, PeTARY Building.
A link to LibrARY OneSearch is available at UNIMAS (www.unimas.my) and PeTARY website www.library.unimas.my. Users can search using a single, unified search box for searching on print and electronic resources. In the search box given, users can use boolean operators, truncation, wildcard or exact phrase search to aid in retrieving the results.
LibrARY OneSearch provides a single, unified search box for searching Library’s information resources, including scholarly e-journal articles, books, e-books, internet documents and UNIMAS Institutional Repository. Features of the service include:

The Library courtesy email is sent as a reminder that the item you have borrowed is nearing the due date. To avoid fines, you should return the books on loan before the due date. If you still need those books for your reference then you may renew the loan online using the "My Account" function or at the Circulation Counter, Level G. You can opt to renew selected books or renew all books you have on loan.
E-journals are electronic journals subscribed by library and are accessible via LibrARY OneSearch. The link to this portal is provided at library homepage and also the LibrARY OneSearch. Users accessing from off campus will be prompted for their barcode number (the 10 digit numbers behind student/staff card) and their 6 digit PIN. Please contact PeTARY if further assistance is needed.

No, they are not.
A fine of RM 30 will be charged to users who are found bringing in food and drinks into library. Only mineral or drinking water is allowed.
Students and staff of UNIMAS can enter other public university libraries to do reference only. Please bring your UNIMAS student card/ staff card as you will be asked to identify yourself upon entering the library.
You can renew your loan up to three times provided no other patrons has made reserved the item. If you wish to borrow the item for the fourth time, you will need to have the item checked in at the Circulation Counter and only then can you borrow the item again.
The Muslim prayer rooms are located at the second floor of library' building. They are accessible during library' operating hours.
Discussion Rooms are available at both Level 1 and Level 2.
Booking or reservation can be done at the Circulation Counter which is located at the Ground Floor.
Interloan/Document Delivery Dervices
Interloan/Document Delivery Service (ILL/DDS) is a service which helps users obtain any information or materials that are not available in library collection.
For every interloan request you make: * First check to see whether library hold the item: - check LibraARY OneSearch. * If library does not have the item, please place your request via the online form https://caisils.unimas.my/cgi-bin/koha/opac-user.pl Note: Please provide as much information about your request and avoid abbreviations! .
Interloan/Document Delivery Service is available to all staff and students of Unimas. Requests from nonmembers will also be entertained depending on cases with a fee usually covering the cost of article and delivery.
Interloan and Document Delivery Service is free of charge for UNIMAS student and academic staff.
It is very difficult for us to predict how long a request will take as it depends on whether the material is available in the holding library and method of delivery of lending library. Normally, materials borrowed through ILL/DDS arrive within a week or two (overseas). If you are submitting a lot of requests at one time please prioritize them. We can then ensure that the items you need most are the first to be processed.
Information literacy, as defined by the Association of College and Research Libraries, encompasses the following set of skills: knowing when information is needed; finding information efficiently; evaluating its quality; using it effectively for a purpose; and observing ethical use of information. Book(s) acquired from overseas may take a few months to arrive, whereas those published in Malaysia will usually be supplied within a week to a month.
List of newly acquired book(s) will be emailed to the requestor. Recently acquired titles are also displayed at New Books Exhibition Booth next to the Circulation Counter.
Please check LibrARY OneSearch (https://www.library.unimas) prior to purchasing. PeTARY will not reimburse book(s) that is already available in the collection. Claim for reimbursement must be submitted to the Knowledge Resources Acquisition Unit via the Reimbursement Claim Form together with the book and the original payment receipt. Reimbursement Claim Form can be downloaded at https://www.library.unimas.
The main objective of collection development is to support teaching, learning and research. Strong collaboration and support from faculties are needed to help us develop the collection. Thus, we encourage faculty members to send in their requests for books and other resources to be acquired by library.
Yes, library will replace missing and damaged items, especially those that are listed in iCLASS.
